I have a hearing scheduled in two weeks with the Employment Commision about it. Do I seriously need to seek legal counsel or will they just tell me to pay the money back immediately?

They will make you pay it back immediately. Or they will take it out of your current pay checks. Why would you scam the state? They will always get you at some point.

Legal counsel would be a good idea. If you did what they're saying you did, maybe the lawyer can keep you out of jail, and if you didn't do it, the lawyer might be able to present your case better than you could.

i have the same problem, if you have reported it, by phone and not submitted cards, at the time of the black out, then you have a good chance, but they will say pay it back more likely, when u get a full time job tell them only take 20%as you have to pay rent and bills. they tryed 50%with me

I would think that they will ask you a few questions and determine if you do infact owe them and then set up a pmt. plan. I'd try to get a loan or credit card to cover the expense. Good luck.

If you did it, pay it back and save the lawyer.

If you didn't and are sure of it, just attend; you can always appeal with an atty if by some weird cause you lose.

legal counsel can help perhaps negotiate a settlement so you don't pay the entire amount. Or, protect you if you're being screwed.

If they can prove it was fraud, and not just a simple mistake, then you may have a problem. I'm sure they will want their money back.

Just be brave and face the problem and tell the truth. It will be OK. They will tell you that you need to pay. and maybe you can pay by instalments

Did you defraud the bureau? If you did you may spend some time in the slammer! And rightly so!
