won't be home until December 22nd! I'm depressed about this but of course he thinks I being silly. He says "I'm not going off to war or anything" and thinks I'm overreacting. I mean, I won't let it disrupt my life but I still hate it. I miss him like crazy!!! We just got married on September 30th so we are still "newlyweds"!!! If it was your husband, how would you feel about it???
By the way, we are not kids. I'm 40 and he's 44.

I can't go with him because he works for the federal government (spouses not permitted) I have a job and go to school and I also have a 14 year old son to take care of.

I would be sooooo upset. My husband and I have been together almost 5 yrs and we had NEVER been apart, not even for one day, until this past August. I had to go to San Diego to see my brother before he went off to war and we couldn't afford for both of us to go .... I wasn't going to pass up seeing my brother for what may have been the last time, but I was so upset to be away from my husband. We sent text messages and talked on the phone every night. I made it through alive, obviously, but it was no fun ! You are not over reacting!

I got married and 3 days later, boarded a plane to Hawaii for 6 months, I was upset at first, but he's going to be gone for 3 weeks, that's a walk in park.
You're not being silly, you miss him, call him every night, or even better yet, webcam and IM, it's always fun. He'll be back before you know it.

Sorry, I am a guy--But that would totally suck. I am sorry to hear that he is going to be gone for so long. Keep in mind though, he probably hates it too. I know I was out of town for a mere week and I hurt so bad when I was gone. You might think about going to visit him for a weekend halfway through or something.

oh i dont think you are overreacting at all...
it is amazing how different men and women do think, but i appreciate that some men to answer here and said they may have felt that way too...
focus on you and your son and your plans for the holidays... time will fly by and you will be amazed when 26 days has passed and you are scrambling to get ready to pick him up at the airport!!!
good luck!

I know how you feel, I used to be married to a Navy man. The only piece of advice I can offer is, take the time to do things for YOU. Things that he wouldn't enjoy that you would. Go get yourself fixed up too...mani, pedi, hair, it will help you feel better about yourself which will make you feel better about being alone. Most of all, ENJOY it!!

Plan something special for Christmas for when he returns, it will give you something to focus on.
Remember, there is always someone worse off than yourself, like Nicole's husband having to go to Afganistan for a year. Why would someone give her answer a thumbs down?

You are not alone, I got married for two weeks before being shipped to Korea for over a year, my wife found it in her heart to remain faithful, so can you.
