It isn't really high or anything and it goes back to normal when I give him medicine. I want to take him to the doctor and I called them and they said that he is probably getting his back teeth and that causes a fever, runny nose and drooling (which he has). Should I not worry, he has had it since last night. How long should I wait? I just don't really trust the doctor. Is it really teething?

It could be teething, or something else like a ear infection. But since he is not tugging at his ear, then its not that. I would keep giving him plenty of fluids and monitoring how much medicine you give him when he is feverish. The more fluids the better!

Believe it or not, 100.3 is a "low grade" fever. I was always raised to believe that a fever is a really bad thing and you do whatever you can to get rid of it, but doctors now think that fevers are good and should be left alone! It's crazy, I know. Keep giving him tylenol according the the right dosage and keep him cuddled and as happy as you can, and just wait for his own body to fight it off.

My daughter had a fever of 104 and we ran her to the emergency room, only to have the staff give her a big dose of motrin, some pedialyte and a series of "nothing's wrong" tests that only upset my daughter more. Everything they did I could have done at home, and within 15 minutes of the medicine she was back to normal. Anyway, keep an eye on him and if the fever gets higher than 102 call the doctor again. Good luck to you!

I am not a doctor, so just take this as a friend. When I was growing up, I rarely went to the doctor to treat a simple fever. However, if it is above 103 I would at least call them. 100.3 isn't much to worry about. Just keep giving him medicine and wiping him down in cool (not cold) water.

It very well could be teething and that's normal.

You should take his temperature and not worry about a low fever (99 to 101). If his fever starts running higher 102 or more, and won't go back down with the medicine then call the doctor back.

How High is the fever? If youre looking at a fever that is 103-104 ferenheit I suggest you take him to a doctor or hospital. Teething can cause slight fevers, but will usually be limited to runny nose or drooling.

As long as you give your child paracetamol whenever he has a fever he'll be okay. Teething is a common thing. a teething child tends to get feverish because it's a painful thing (the eruption of the teeth). Try giving him teethers that are chilled in the refrigerator. This will alleviate some of the pain that the paracetamol hasn't quite taken care of.

It does sound like molars. My son had a slight fever, drooling and diarrhea when he got his, and then he got horrible diaper rash too. Poor thing was hurting at both ends. Not a whole lot you can do but give them the Tylenol, something to chew on and I SWORE by Hylands Teething Tablets.

If it's not high I wouldn't worry. If it becomes hard to break or rises above 102...then I would take him in. Fevers are a natural defense system for the body and not always a bad thing. Of course if your still unsure, you should take him in. Go with your mother intuition!

I was told that you only needed to contact the doc if the fever is 101 or higher.

don't panic put you finger in his mouth to see if he's teething and look for the signs like if he likes teether or any solid thing to chew on and when it confirmed then it could be because of teething and put some oragel in his gums to soothe them then see if his fever starts getting better or not and its good that your giving him med give infant Tylenol.
