The word Narcissist comes from a figure in Greek Mythology, who was extremely beautiful and feel in love with his identical twin sister. When she died he would constantly look lovingly at his own reflection. So the term narcissist means someone who is extremely self absorbed, egotistical, basically they are in love with themselves. They are not necessarily abusive but usually selfish & self obsessed.

The narcissist believes they are perfect, it is those around them who are flawed. They criticise openly without considering how their comments effect others. They themselves do not like to be criticised and are paranoid that any comment made in passing is directed at them. They are selfish and are only interested in meeting their own needs at any cost They are very disruptive within a group setting. A typical example of a narcissist is Lynne from I'm a celebrity get me out of here.

Not sure what exactly you're trying to get at...but to be a narcissist, or narcissistic, is to be in-love with oneself....ones own image....
Narcissis was a Greek God who fell in-love with his own reflection...which is where the term comes from...
Someone who is narcissistic would not necessarily be "abusive" by the definition of being a narcissist.

Narcissism is basically being obsessed with oneself. Characteristics of narcissism would be vanity, selfishness, egotism, arrogance.
They would not so much be abusive to others; as likely to ignore others feelings and be indifferent to them. It is not their intent to cause others harm, but thinking of others is probably the last thing on their minds.

We're just self assured. We may seem verbally abusive because we believe in what we believe. There is no other truth than what is true to me. I am the product of my experience's. If you saw things as i do we would be like minded. Do you question what you believe because you are taught to second guess yourself and adopt others view's. I have compassion, empathy etc. I just believe what i know. love me or hate me.
