If so, why did they refuse? If not, why not?

Although the British colony (later to become the Canadian province of Nova Scotia) didn't join the American revolution, there was a lot of sympathy for the rebels. The British had a very large military presence in Halifax and this made the chance of a successful revolt practically impossible.
Benjamin Franklin's efforts to get the French Canadians to join the revolt are briefly described in the article listed below.

The Americans did approach Quebec to get them to join the revolution. The Quebecers did not trust the English-speaking Americans, and decided that the British were at least a familiar group that they could deal with. "Better the devil you know than the devil you don't."

There was some small revolutionary activity by Canadians in the Chignecto region of Nova Scotia. However, this activity was very small and led to failure.

The problem for revolutionaries recruiting in Canada was that the taxes that had made the Americans so angry (such as the stamp act) were not applied in Canada. So Canadians did not have the same grievance against the British that the Americans did.

The Canadian Provinces (Quebec at this time) didnt join the Americans because of the language and religious protection they got at the end of the Seven Years War in the Quebec Act of 1774.

I don't know if they were invited, but I know that they wouldn't have accepted.

When the American Colonists sent a military force to try and raise resistance and free the Canadian colonies they found no support. The military force was defeated and its leaders fled.

There was no Canadian uprising against the British, they were quite happy.
