Am I excessively absent?
I have this speech class in a community college (9 week session)
8-11 am (the teacher let sus out at 10:30)
there are a totoal of 16 days of class (exluding veterns day...I don't know if that still counts.
I've been absnt 3 times
in the college handbook, it reads.
When the hours of absence exceed one more than twice the number of class hours per week, the students are considered excessively absent
(I go twice a week...mon and weds)

Additional Details:
of course I will avoid future absences and I will talk to him,
the reason for my third absence was due to having to pick up my 10 year old sister from the airport. Both my parents can't aford to miss work, and I never.
like to be absent more than twice
I didn't have a choice for the 3rd absence.

Seems like you've had good reasons to be absent. Looks like factually, you're not 'excessively absent' until you miss at least 1 more full day.

Whether fair or not the rules were in place before you took the course. Usually that means that you agree with them by default, like most of us you probably did not read the small print.., and the other thing to remember is that if you do find that you have a special circumstance it is better to make arrangements with the prof beforehand. Your arguement sounds reasonable. But now you are at his mercy. Good luck
