Can't they spend it on better causes? Not just charitable donations. I mean enough to make a real difference.

I'm quite sure they could, but it's up to them. Additionally, the woes of the world are just so very many that anything you would put forth is only a drop in the bucket. While I agree with what your rhetorical question is posing, that's just not the way the world works for the most part. If you had all that money, would you do what you are suggesting? There have been people who have given up everything in the name of helping people, and you really don't hear about them anymore and you don't hear about how much of a difference it made at all. Instead, we keep hearing about the people who HAVE it all, not the people who gave it all up. In order for something like that to happen more often we really have to lay the blame on society and start trying to change the way we all work, not just the people who "have everything."
