If you are talking about cheating to get placement in a remedial algebra course because you fear you will have difficult with the college level course, by all means, do so! Simply ignore any questions on the test that look like algebra or advanced mathematics. You will probably have to take the college level course as well to fulfill your degree requirements. Remedial courses are not awarded credits for graduation.
An alternative is this:
Go to your library, check out a basic algebra text, and READ it! Do all the exercises in the book (Teachers usually assign less than half.). If you have difficulty with a concept, go to a friend who is good at math and can explain things to you or submit questions here. If all else fails, contact a tutor.
Most difficulties with any mathematics usually stem from trying to combine too many steps at once, and getting lost somewhere in the process. Do things one simple step at a time until you've established your confidence. It can be tedious, but it's a whole lot less frustrating than trying to find an error in a multi-step operation.

RE:
Is there any way to cheat on a math placement test?
I'm really bad with algebra and I only need the basic level for my degree but I can't place into the class I need. Is there a way that I can cheat on the placement test?

If you're caught cheating, what makes you think you will even make it through college at all? If you cheat to pass the math portion, and score well, that means you will be enrolled into a level of college math that you might not be able to do! You will FAIL that course, or be forced to take an Incomplete or Withdraw. From there, if you have financial aid, it will be suspended based on the F, I, W and your lowered GPA, and that you dropped credit hours (you are required to take so many a semester to keep your funding) AND, if you do get your aid back, you will be MADE to take the placement test over, and then be put into a lower level math course....that you should have just been in from the beginning! If the college finds out you cheated, you will be expelled and permanently suspended from receiving ANY sort of financial aid at ANY college, at least from the federal government. It goes on your permanent record. You only get so much money a year for school, so don't blow a semester trying to take a math class you most likely CANNOT pass. The placement test isn't designed as punishment, or to berate or embarrass you. It isn't finger-shaking at you about, "YOU SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THIS BY NOW!" It is so you CAN be successful at your education and CAN do well when you reach the college level courses. One of the main reasons that student drop-out of college, is because they can't intellectually push through a class. It is GOOD for you to be placed at the level of math you test into, it doesn't matter if it is 121 or 064. You need to get up to a level where you can get through your education and apply it to life. Remember, employers often look at academic transcripts as well. Every single thing you do in college is on a permanent record. If you have a bunch of F, I, W and mention of financial aid suspension, or punishment for cheating on a test, they are less likely to choose you as a candidate for the job. It says a lot about your work ethic and character. How do I know this? I dug this whole for myself and now I am trapped in it. I never cheated, but I would basically cram JUST enough in my head, to barely pass the placement exam and skip preparatory math courses that I SHOULD HAVE taken and needed. What ended up happening? I literally FAILED most of my classes, math and otherwise, because I did not understand the material. I was put first on probation, then made it to suspension because I never could catch up. That was in my early-twenties. Now I am in the mid-thirties, and trying to get back into school, so I can actually FUNCTION and make money at an actual job like everyone else my age has been doing for years. I am having a near impossible time getting back in, and trying to figure out how to get my past issues out of my way so I can enroll.

Yes there is,
Work on the part you are not good at by doing extra maths problems every day, with your friends and constantly ask your teacher where you don't understand.

If you can't pass the placement test, you WILL NOT pass the class. Why would you cheat? What does this say about your character? In some countries, if you are caught cheating you are executed. If you live in the USA, be thankful. One day you will be caught cheating, but you will not be executed. Hopefully you won't be fired if you are caught cheating in your job. You MAY be expelled from college when you get caught!

I understand that additional practice will boost your online ALEKS grade, but I believe there's a component that must be taken in person.

2y -3(4y-y) = 2y - 12y +3y = -7y, not -13y. You forgot that -3(-y) = +3y, not -3y!
