Guild Wars (original)
Guild Wars: Factions?
Guild Wars: NightFall?

The first answer is COMPLETELY wrong.
The listed games are ALL stand alone and can be gotten in any order, if gotten at all.
Here's a quick review:
Guild Wars - European fantasy theme. Longest campaign? Definitely the slowest to level. Lots of skills earn-able through quests.
Guild Wars: Factions - Asian theme. Very good for PvP.
Guild Wars: Nightfall - Egyptian theme. VERY fast leveling. Customizable henchmen.
Personally I'd start with either the original or Nightfall. Nightfall is easier to solo than the original, so you might want to start in that one.

Seeing as you need the original guild wars to play both Factions AND Nightfall - the latter two beeing _expansions_, not _stand alone_ games...
... you should get the Original. :)

The first answerer has obviously never played the game. She really doesn't know much about it.
Each game is a stand alone game. You can buy whichever one appeals to you.
