Come on! Doesn't anyone else get creeped out about the dentist?

I go, twice a year to have teeth cleaned. I don't get cavities (I had one at 12, 2 at 14, and 1 at 17). So that's it. Last year, my dentist said I needed my wisdom teeth pulled. I said, "Yah, I'll get right on that". 6 months later he asked me if I wanted a referral to an orthodontic surgeon, to remove my wisdom teeth, and I said no. I'm going in again, and still haven't had my teeth taken out. Why should I? It's not like they hurt, which I know is a problem for other people.

It's just that when I was 5, and my teeth were loose, the dentist pushed them out for me, and it hurt. When I was 8 and I fell off the porch and knocked my front teeth (still baby teeth) out, the dentist decided to put one back, and it hurt. When I was 12, the dentist removed my bicuspids (healthy adult ones), so that I'd have more room to straighten my teeth. OK, first, even though I was numb, I still felt him pulling my teeth out which was a creepy feeling, even as I'm remembering it. Second, it hurt for like a week, and I wasn't able to eat normally for almost a month (besides the taste of blood). And Third, he never straightened my teeth. When I was 17, a different dentist replaced one of my old fillings, and when he knocked it loose, it went down my throat. I started gagging, and he told me to knock it off. I was also worried because I heard those had mercury, but I seem alright now. Anyway, I hope that answers your question.

Because most people think that they're going to end up with one or more cavities. The dentist is going to want to set up another appointment, and then comes the drilling. Nobody likes the drill. God never intended such a thing to go in our mouth. I think we were just meant to endure the pain of a cavity. Oh, and also because they do that thing with the pick and scraping tartar from your teeth. A dentist that isn't all that good always stabs that pick into my gums. It really hurts

It's never a few minutes..
Sometimes I've been in that chair for over an hour.

That like pick like thing they have to clean the teeth with is soo painful..

It's the 21st century..you'd think they would have found a way to make going to the dentist less painful already..Sheesh!

I don't, my dentist is great! I never feel any pain. I went to a different dentist recently because mine was really backed up and OMG the person cleaning my teeth was harsh I never felt so much pain in my life! It must be the dentist who makes it good or not!

No. I hate going because it's freaking scary and I have issues with teeth...I've gone through a surgery and braces and teeth being pulled out and cavaties...so I'm a little scarred for life from the dentist. Hence, I don't go anymore LOL. But I brush my teeth everyday and rarely eat sweets, so my teeth are fine.

I dont mind going. I dont have teeth problems. I love the feeling of having clean teeth when I leave.
I know some people fear the dentist because they do have bad teeth. It could be because of the money they have to fork out, the pain afterwards, or I know of some people that are afraid of it because they dont like needles being poked in their mouth.

I HATE HATE HATE GOING TO THE DENTIST. It's pure TORTURE. The drills, the smell of the office, that God awful elevator music...all I have to do is step in the door and hear that and I am panic stricken! There is nothing on this entire earth that I like to do less than go to the dentist.

I just put out over $4,000 to have 3 root canals and 3 new crowns put on. 3 teeth - 5 grand (I paid 4 and insurance paid 1 grand)...THAT is why I hate going to the dentist.

Because not most people like pain. And it's not just for a few minutes. Sometimes the pain lasts for hours. I do agree that it is necessary but know one enjoys it.
