No, no, no. They speak English English in England. In America we speak American English.
Go to England and ask for a 'cookie'...they've never heard of it...they call it a 'biscuit'.
Put your luggage in the 'boot', not the 'trunk' and that's on the opposite side of the vehicle from the 'bonnet, not the 'engine.
Ride up to your 'flat' not 'apartment' in the 'lift' not the 'elevator'.
Eat 'chips' with your sandwich, not 'fries'.
'Tea' is a meal eaten around 4 pm, not merely a beverage.
The 'loo' is the 'restroom'.

I could go on and on, but I think you've gotten the message.
The difference between English in England and the US is akin to the difference between Spanish in Spain and Mexico - -pretty big.

I would say we speak english in America actually. American is a nationalism not a language.

They speak a different English than we do. The trunk of a car is a boot, bacon becomes rashers, etc. They are close, but no cigar.
