I know it's a nosy question. I just wanted to get an idea of the going rate from other people. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Also - how long ago did you take the lessons?!!

Thanks

Thanks to all who have answered so far. I was looking for an overall total figure. i.e. how much you spent on driving lessons in total.

Thanks again!

I paid £19.50 an hour towards the end of my lessons (they started off at around £18 an hour though). I was learning for ages... probably about a year and a half between 2004/2006. Total I spent was probably around £1400... that is scary!

I passed my test last October and went through 3 instructors before I got there hehe... One quit teaching, one had a heart attack and the other one only had to teach me for a month or so.

Not really reassuring you am I? I really was a terrible learner! I only had to take 2 tests though.

I didn't pay a penny as my employers paid for it! In return, I have to drive service vehicles on duty.

It took me about 10 lessons of 1 to 1+1/2 hour durations and I did it 18-20 months ago. The instructor did say each lesson was worth about £18-20 (ish)

£8 an hour, but that was back in the good old days (1988 in fact) I bet the prices have gone up a lot now.I think I took lessons for about 6 months with an instructor, and my boyfriend used to take me out and let me drive his car too.

12sh.6d(62.5p) an hour but that was 45 years ago, but as an apprentice I was only taking home £8 a week.
Average for lessons today is about £17-£20 per hour depending on your area and the company.

Hi

My mom's boyfriend and my sister taught me how to drive, so I didn't have to pay anything. I had to pay $25 to take a class though, but it didn't involve any driving, I just learned what would be on the test. I got my driver's license in 2002.
