mix red and a blue.

Here is a brief colour wheel:
Red + Blue = Purple
Blue + Yellow = Green
Yellow + Red = Orange

Red and Blue does make true purple which makes me curious as to why someone gave everyone who answered red and blue a thumbs down. If you want lavendar or violet then just add some white.

You could also plant Garden Phlox, and let nature provide you with a really nice range of purples in the summer and fall.

mix any of the above combinations and you will get purple

Blend to-gether Blue an Red if you want it dark at just a speck of Black and if you want if light at a speck of White.
