The current two contendors both did. WVU beat #20 U Conn - that's not really that impressive since most years they get beat 7 or more times, so even if you had this criteria people would still whine about which top 25 team everyone else got to play.
And last years debacle? Both of those teams beat several top 25's, OSU beat the #2 team twice and still got beat bad, so that really doesn't prove anything?

You will have to specify whether they are a top 25 team when the game is played, or a top 25 team at the end of the season.
Also, everybody needs to stop making up rules to keep the teams they hate out!
By the way....Ohio State beat TWO #2 ranked teams last year, so your theory is kind of a mute point.

Obviously much work still needs to be done on the BCS computer rankings. I thought your rankings were determined by your opponents ranking and schedule. If a team is ranked high, then it is assumed that it beat some pretty good teams. Good teams are usually in the top 25.

It helps, but you can't blame them for playing their schedule. Are you referring to Boise State when you say last years debacle? I think that proved that lesser teams should get a major bowl if they have the record, since at the very least they did everything they were supposed to do to deserve it.

Last year's debacle will be the same as this year's debacle: "The Ohio State University" playing in the NC game.

In the current system? Yes, absolutely. The dumbest thing that was ever done, if we're stuck with the BCS, is to take strength of schedule out of the equation.

Good point. And maybe if we say that the only teams that play for a National Championship are teams that have a victory over Stanford, that would keep the NC game a respectable one.

i believe you have to play top teams before you should be allowed to paly for the national title (sorry Hawaii) Any Sec team should have an advantage over any other team simply because the level of competition is so high, put SEC schools in other confrences, they would win every year.
