What up Yola,
The question is who is the better player, not who is having the better season. So for those who are already anointing LeBron let's keep in mind that we're only 14-15 games into the season- Kobe has been playing at his current level for years.
I think the two are very comparable in terms of overall stats.
The edge goes to Kobe because of his defense. Kobe can be a lockdown defender and still score like crazy. LeBron is beginning to learn that and there is no saying that he may not one day surpass Kobe- but today and now- Kobe is by far the superior defender and he has been very committed to playing D since the FIBA Americas-- i think that's something LeBron picked up from him.
When you ask who would you want to shoot the ball with the game on the line: Kobe is #1, and Agent Zero or Dwayne Wade are ahead of LeBron on this list. Yes, LeBron's game is improving and he's had a couple of big fourth quarter performances but no one does it so regularly and so difficultly than Kobe. Can you honestly tell me you'd want LeBron to take a shot with the game on the line over Kobe?
Lastly, everyone dogs on Kobe because of personal dislike for his personality. If you watch the Lakers, Kobe does not try to score every point- and if you want to give LeBron all these props for developing- you'll see that Kobe has been passing a-lot (there have been times this year where he hasn't shot enough). He may end up with 5-7 assists per game (but he really should be closer to 10) his teammates miss a lot of gimmes. Yes, Le Bron is the better passer, but if you want to give LeBron credit for the changes he's made to his game-- Kobe should be given credit for the way he's been a team guy. Yes we have all the crap in the media, but in terms of on the court- Kobe has been a team guy and leader.
If anything i think Kobe and LeBron are in the same boat. i would say LeBron has a slightly stronger supporting cast- but i also see a Passion and desire to win in Kobe that i do not see in LeBron (LeBron doesn't seem like he's going to die if he doesn't win a championship)... Kobe let it beknown publically... ya it wasn't the right way to handle it- but i see a Passion in Kobe that i do not see in LeBron and that "killer instinct" and passion to get better along with the reasons above make me give the nod to Kobe.

I think Kobe is a better player when in the clutch and asked to carry a team completely offensively and defensively. Kobe, T-Mac, & A.I. are the only 3 players in the last 3 season’s that I've seen and compared, that can have a 2-9 shooting in the first half of the game. And in the second half they go hay-wire for 40 points or even 50!!! I would add Wade, Melo but I haven’t seen that lately as much as Kobe or McGrady.
Lebron can make a team better all-around passing and rebounding, but not that great of a defensive player. Lebron gets a steal/block here and there but nothing from what I've seen Kobe (blocking) or even A.I. (stealing) A.I. works twice as hard as these guys, with the height he’s got!!!
I'm not knocking Lebron, but the kids got so much time to improve he's game. He's in his early 20's for crying-out loud, Kobe's 27 or 28 still in his prime, Iverson's got a good 3 season's of averaging 20 or more in him!!!
To me Lebron lacks the mid-range and free-throw game where Kobe/Mcgrady can hit that with their eyes closed. He's not as consistent as Wade when it comes to the Mid-range but surprisingly a better 3-point-player!!!
Back to the question Kobe, no matter how much u hate him he brings something Lebron can't and Lebron brings something Kobe can't. Both are in similar situations at this point and time in their career’s, not having that added player at the same level, like Magic and Kareem!

both are good in there own right but i don't think lebron could carry the lakers and lebron didn't make it to the finals alone he does have a pretty good team. the play different postions so lebron gets more rebonds and assists but his team makes more shots. Kobe is on a below avaerage team the 2nd youngest team next to the bobcats. Kobe does what he needs to, to win he scores when he has to moves the ball and plays great defense there is a reason he makes 1st team defense every year.
so kobe is the better player

Lebron by far. He can do much more all around than Kobe. Kobe scores, that's it. Lebron rebounds, scores, plays defense, and has made some of the most amazing passes I've seen since Magic left the building.
Kobe is one dimensional. A very good dimension, but the only reason he has rings is because Shaq was there doing the grunt work.

I give it to Kobe at this point, but LeBron is closing fast, and will overtake Kobe sooner than later.

They're great players. They both know what real Basketball means, so no one can say a bad word for each of them, but every one has his own preferences and this is why i prefere Kobe Bryant!!!!!!
