Time to see an obstetrician right away. lt sounds like an infection because of the smell coming from it.
Was there something left inside like a gauze or anything used during delivery? l'm not trying to scare you. l just remember watching months ago on TV this young wife who found out there was a gauze left inside her. What a relief when it was removed. l hope it's not your case.

my little one is eight weeks old and i had a forceps delivery and therefore required an episiotomy. i bled really heavy for 2 weeks then it started to tail off but did come back for a couple of days. are u using teal tree oil in your bath about 10 drops it really helps to keep the area clean and have some pants off time lying on your bed with towel under you. if you are really worried call the maternity unit you gave birth in cause you can still seek advice there. is there any discharge apart from the blood. try the tee tree honestly it works and the fresh air. my stitched area is still healing and although this sounds gross get down and have a look. I'm a nurse and that's what i did it should be really red and raw looking

rather than your midwife I would give your GP a call or even call the ward at the hospital where you gave birth. An infection in the wound can cause the discharge/blood to smell a funny, rather like cheese! It takes a few days for the antibiotics to get into your system.
Ring one of the above asap so they can take a look and make sure its nothing more than a simple infection.
Best of luck

i had the same problem 3rd degree tear and wow loads of stitches painfull arent they. i was also worried about blood loss this was my 3rd baby and bleeding seemed a lot heavier but it got lighter after 2 weeks and then went back heavy again it turned out i still had bits of the uterues or placenta not sure what was still removing itself and the smell was quite unpleasant i went to the doctors several times to have the stitiches checked just to make sure everything was healing ok and thankfully it was i would advise you do the same. just change your pad every hour and wash the area down , use a few drops of tea tree oil in the bath and shower as much as you can. dont worry youll recover soon it amazing how we heal i really thought i wouldnt this time round but i was grand again by week 4. but really get to your doctors tomorrow and have them checked . best of luck.

Sounds just like an infection. Having a baby is the best thing in the world but sometimes it makes you feel just rotten!! Keep taking antibiotics an see your midwife or doc first thing tomorrow. A little tip to feel a little fresher is to shake a little bit of talc on your pad an also altho it sounds like a pain, try an change pad every hour. Make sure you aren't wearing underwear or trousers that are tight round your crotch as this can make smell worse. Good luck x

Wow don't take advice off here love. Speak to your GP, or even better your midwife. It sounds as though you have an infection and could probably do with antibiotics pronto.

If you cant get your midwife to answer then go to the Emergency Room. I kept bleeding past the point I was supposed to so I went to the ER and they get you in quick and can do everything your midwife can do and sometimes quicker and better because they are more prepared for anything.

Could be some placenta that they did not remove this happens some times and can be serious. Go to the doctor to make sure as soon as possible especially if you start to feel sick in any way.

If you are worried and can't get in touch with your midwife go to an emergency room. It may be normal but if you are not sure then better go have yourself checked out by a doctor.
