When I was in elementary school (maybe Jr. High) we had to read this book "The Giver". I think it would make an excellent movie if done right.
Also, "The Hatchet" would have been a good book to base a movie off of.
Both books have interesting stories.

The book I've always wanted made into a movie is coming out Dec 7th so that's already done.
I'd also like to see Tamora Pierce's different series made into movies, because I love all her story lines and how her characters develop (The Lioness Quartet, the Wild Magic series, and Circle of Magic series)

The end of Mr Y by Scarlet Thomas (fantastic adventure story) The Venus Conspiracy by Michale Cordy (the lvoe pill for use and abuse from some evil people) oh yea "the Messiah code" as well from the same author! (this time Jesus comes back, but its very unusual as to where it does and how it behaves!) "The five people you meet in heaven" is such a greatpiece of work! I think they can never be as good in film as they are in the book! Also The road by Cormack Mc Carthy! The Alchemist, 11 minutes and Veronica decides .. by Paoplo Coleho! (I hope you have read from his books, becasue he is spectacular, and extremely sensitive and passionate!) To tople all of them (and you are probably bored with all this long list! ~"Life of pi") I would go runing to watch this movie! amazing, touching and when the story or book is finished, you will still have big bang on your head as the story continues within you! Thats what make great fiction for me, the one that makes you work out the story! or make the story with what you are given (I think its called writterly fiction, yea?) Whatever it is those are the best books! I also have been through No Country for old man by the author of "the road " above and it was great, just as good as the book! thois time 10 out of 10!

Lost Summer by Alex Macaulay. I am only half way through this book and it is so interesting and exciting that I can't put it down. I am so curious to find out the end that I can hardly stand it. I thought about just reading the end but then that would just spoil it. You should read this book for sure.

The Color of Water
and
Down these Mean Streets
They both are veeeeery good books i read for school, that i didn't realize that I would actually enjoy. The Color of Water tells the story about a half Black and half white man and the story of his mother. Veeeeeeery good read.
And Down these mean streets tells the story of a hispanic man who went through some toughs times in life. From gang fighting, to drug dealing, to drug addict, and even his time in prison. He completely turned his life around and went through alot doing it. He also experienced alot of racism for being a dark skinned Hispanic. VERYYYYYY good book. I would read again, but I really wish it would become a movie.

I would like to see Roger Zelazny's Amber series made into a movie. I think the visual effects wizards would be challenged and it has elements of a wide variety of types. Lots of action, but with suspense, mystery, fantasy, etc.

Isaac Asimov's foundation series.
Because it's a CLASSIC sci fi series from one of the most amazing authors of ANY genre. (and one of the few that is published in almost every known genre) I took a class in high school on these books, and have read them at least once a year since then..
