Yes they need ten Republicans in the Senate but what about the House. And that’s a weak argument. Bush’s own party is dissatisfied with him. Are you telling me the Democrats can’t make concessions with ten Senate Republicans? Come on Democrats you need a better argument.

RitchWilliams you are correct. I was hoping a Democrat would succeed Bush but their gutless, non strategic ways will make me vote Republican, Republicans may rush to judgment but at least they fight for what they believe.

You are right. They aren't delivering and they are weak. On the budget issues and on most other issues as well.
Many voters elected Democrats because they wanted real change, an end to the war and a big part even impeachment. The Democrats have delivered nothing. I know Nancy Pelosi ruled out impeachment which in itself was a cowardly and low move but day after day, there are more credible reasons to at least have an investigation but the Democrats won't move. That fact alone is enough for many I believe to reject this cowardly congress.
Then the war, despite the cheap excuses and technical reasons the facts are they could end it if they had the courage to just stop funding.
Unlike impeachment technically though they did try to get the impeachment vote as well, they did promise an end to this tragic war
The longer the war continues and American soldiers die for the lies and vanity of Mister Bush the more it shows the Democrats lack the spine to ever become more than the lesser of two evils. No political courage in the Democratic party ever, always trying to stay in the middle. Look at the questions from before the 2006 election. People can and some will deny it now but they did elect this congress to stop the war. They failed because these career politicians always choose politics over ideals and principal.
Of course the Republicans are gonna try to make them fail to be able to paint them as the do nothing congress. Obstruction and sabotage is an essentail political weapon of the American right. The article states Democrats are afraid they will loose because Republicans lost when they opposed Clinton. Different time and different situation. This is once again an exapmle how the American right always pushes the envelope while they are in power and the left, if they are even left, maybe I should start calling them less far right, always tries to be reasonable and cater to the middle. If the Democrats stood up to this charade the American public would understand just like they understood Bill Clinton was right when the Republicans tried to obstruct him.
All it takes is some courage. Voting Republican at this point is like throwing oil on the fire because the pressure on the water isn't strong enough. There are alternatives for the two mayor parties

Just how many Republicans are in Congress that would get in the way of what the Democrats want to do? I think you will find that the Republicans are the ones who are stopping the will of the people. Do a little reading and research. Watch what goes on in Congress and who opposes what. You will find that the Republicans and Bush are the ones stifling the will of the people. The Democrats have tried and had little success because of the Republicans. That will change after the '08 election when the Democrats have a much stronger majority in both houses of the Congress and the Presidency.

The ones that will suffer next election aren't the Democrats but the Republicans in the House and Senate that continue to block the votes the democrats need to move the country forward.
Since when did being a Republican mean Party Loyalty over Country?

They're not weak...they just don't have a padded number in the House or Senate. Because of this Republicans are now being the "obstructionists". In 08 that may very well change. A good remedy for this country would be a mandate.

Dems will cry that the Republicans are obstructionists. Simply not true. Try passing a clean bill, without tons and tons of ear-marks and pork, then if it doesn't get the votes maybe you have an arument. Until then stop with this crap about Republicans blocking things.

Rather humorous isn't it? An entire political party gets b1tchslapped repeatedly by a man they consider to be a moron. LOL, makes one wonder who the real moron is.

And gang, quit whining about not having enough votes. If the democrats had anything worth doing, you'd have the votes. They can't even get democrats to vote with them half the time because they know that the American public would hang them! The republicans didn't have a super majority and yet they were still able to get legislation passed. If the only time you can get anything done is when you have a super majority, you're pretty p1ss poor. So stop with the excuses.

Bush is weak only because of Democrats, they need more votes and will get them with the retirement of old time Republicans and republicans being voted out of office in the next election.

I agree. I'm suspicious that part of it is due to the upcoming elections and their fear of doing anything that might spoil their chances. They now they have good chances, but they are acting like deer caught in headlights, not sure if the should make a move. It would be so much more advantageous if we had a third party that was seriously in the running.

Did you even read the damn article? It clearly states the Republicans and the president will not work with them, and knowing he has veto power and not enough republicans to override. What the hell do you wan them to do? This question is so damn hypocritical it defies the imagination.
