I remember once I had a fight with my dad when I was about 21. I was upset because he was trying to trash my mom for something stupid. I pointed out that he walked out the door when I was 18 months old without a backward glance. He was mad that I brought it up and asked "Why do you keep harping on that? What do you want from me? Did you think you were going to be daddy's little princess or something?!"
I must say that was very painful for me to hear, being that he had no part in raising me at all and let my mom do all the work while he remarried twice and did all he wanted to do.
And actually yes, I did want that at one point. I used to dream as a little girl what it must be like to have a daddy.
I am 30..my dad and I are just friends now. I don't think we could ever have a father-daughter relationship at this point. I tried to prevent it, but my daughter's dad also walked out when she was 6 months and now she is 13 and I am watching the whole thing all over again. The most painful thing tho is that her dad walked off and had 4 more kids and has been a good dad to them. Maybe they can still work things out, who knows?

But to answer your question:
I miss my uncle Scottie. I love you Scottie with all my heart. I will never understand what force decided to take you from us all so early, but just know that you are always in my heart. Mom misses you so much still, even 3 years later. She always hangs your stocking up on the mantle and puts little gifts in it. Please visit her in her dreams and let her know you are okay, wherever you are out there in the heavens or on earth. Your kids love you too and wish you Merry Christmas.
Love, your niece Rachel

This so sad for me to here this, i feel sorry that your dads feelings for you are no longer there now, i do hope that you can some how forgive him cos it is he who has missed out on so much as well as you. My girl and boy mean everything to me and i would never give up on them no matter what they have done in life to upset me or others. But you ask who i miss, there are so many now, but i did have two great freinds that i still find had to talk about and finding the words still come hard cos you can't put feelings into words-take care Lynne

Wow! I was fortunate to have a poor but solid family as a kid. I had both parents, several siblings, uncles, aunts, cousins and grand parents all living in close proximity. I always felt loved and cared for. I always had lots of attention.

I am now a grandfather and my mom only died this year. My dad is sill alive. I never thought my family was unusual. I always just assumed other kids had loving families, too. It was only after I was in high school that I began to hear differently.

You are right to be resolved to be a good parent. Make good decisions and marry the right kind of man. We are out there.

I don't like this question...
I'm sorry.. But I'm being honest...

I lost my Dad two years ago to cancer and I'll never have that time back...

It really doesn't make sense as a question...
Maybe you could have worded it better?

*edit*
Maybe this is not the best site to exploit your vulnerability

My dad ... he died 2 years ago aged 56. We used to go sailing round Croatia ....... he was the only person genuinely interested in the same things as me.

Big hole where he used to be.

Dads are humans too.

They fail sometimes just like the rest of us.
