Ashley-The way Collinsworth talks you would have thought he was a better WR than he really was.

Al Michaels has been the best play-by-play announcer for years, and he continues to be so. A commanding voice, great presence, and the ability to let the action speak for itself when needed.
As for color analysts, I think Troy Aikman is the best. I was never a Cowboys fan, but Aikman "gets" the game more than some of the others, and he again doesn't have the need to be talking at all times. Guys like Phil Simms drive me crazy because they never shut up, and Aikman doesn't have that problem.

In basketball I'm starting to love Chuck Swirsky. "Get out the salami and cheese mamma, this ball game is over!"
Note: This quote started after a fan emailed Chuck asking him if he could let him know when The Raptors have the game in hand as he couldn't go to the fridge to make a salami and cheese sandwhich until after he knew the Raptors had won. The next time the Raptors were on the verge of winning Chuck used it.

The announcer pool is so bad I don't really think there is a "best." It's more of a "most tolerable"...I'd have to give that nod to Collinsworth. He can be annoying at times but he generally knows what he's talking about and doesn't spend all of his time spewing nonsense bs that has nothing to do with the game.

Brent Musburger calls an outstanding college football game. He does it without being over the top, or rooting for a specific team. He gets my vote easily.
