Most superheroes fly. They need as little wind resistance as they can get, thus the reason that they wear tights.

Because there when superheroes were first drawn, back in the "Golden Age", they were based off of costumes of circus acrobats. It was also easier to distinguish them from "ordinary" people, with the printing techniques at the time.
