is this in conjuction with spitting up?...if so i wouln't worry about it.....my baby would spit up huge amounts of my milk during feedings when she was a newborn and it would come out her nose and all

they eventually grow out of it.....and it calms down when your oversupply of milk regulates itself and baby is a more efficient eater

Acutally, there is NO effect to the breastmilk coming out of the nostrils. Like Shera said, if it's after nursing, and he's spitting up, sometimes it comes out of their nose. This stops once they get a little more control over their muscles. There is no effect, it's not harmful in the least and can actually be beneficial.

Its possible he has a slight cleft pallet. I'd have him looked at.

If its something new that just started when before he was nursing just fine it could be any number of things from your milk flow being too much for him (it will change on its own) to him snorting it up when nursing (something he'll out grow) to anything else.

You can talk to your doctor about it.

You may wanna have that checked or atleast call the baby doc. It MAY go in the lungs and set up pnemonia. Not trying to scare you but i'd really be callin the doc.
