People say he was a thug and always had a gun on him.

Well, he didn't have a gun on him when he got shot. Or he would have busted a cap in that fool.

So, why do people always say he was carring a gun?

Very true...

They also completely neglect that his father is the Chief of Police in Florida City, which probably prevented him from being too much of a thug growing up.

Obviously, the whole ATV thing, combined with some fines are the reasons why people thing he's a thug. The only problem I have ever had with the man is the spitting allegations. I would never have tolerated that from a teammate or an opponent on (or off) the field. The uniform fines are ridiculous, and the late/dirty hits come with the territory. I think the ATV thing was somewhat misconstrued because he was able to plea bargin for essentially nothing...

Sean had the 1 gun charge because he pointed a gun a a guy that stole one of his vehicles. Sean was not a trouble maker. He doesn't have a history of off the trouble except for the 1 incident. The media pumps up his on the field trouble when 1 of his fines was because he and Clinton Portis wore different color socks than everybody else. Not all of his hits were late and the ones that were late were because he was an agressive player. I can't be mad at him for that. That's why most fans love him. Sean died because he was following the rules. He wasn't allowed to have a gun in his possession because of his probation. That's why he had the machete under his bed. Being a rich star, you need to have some kind of protection in your home. Sean was on his way to be a Hall of Fame player. He was the total package as a player and was on his way to become a complete man.

It more than likely stems from a 2004/2005 gun related charge he faced surrounding an altercation with someone who claimed he pointed a gun at them. Taylor pleaded down from a felony charge to 2 misdemeanors and was given 18 months probabtion.

Most of the issues Sean had were on the field, late hits and things like that. Many took him the wrong way simply because he wasnt outspoken. He was a quiet guy that stuck to himself. Hopefully this will be resolved soon and his family can see justice in the matter.

One thing is certain; this young man died in vain and it was completely undeserving. The only thug in this case is the murderer that took his life right in front of his fiance and her sister.

Because people love to assume that every single black football player in the NFL is a 'thug' and "gangsta" and always causes trouble. That isnt the case all the time, and an NFL player who gets cut down in his prime is tragic; we should focus on how we could prevent this sort of thing from happening in the furture instead of questioning his character.

Because people like to justify things. Even if it was true that he always carried a gun people would be able to say that he is a gang member and lived a dangerous life and that is why he is dead. I heard one report last night that said that he had walked in on his girlfriend and her lover and was shot because of that. Pretty low what some people will say

taylor grew up in a bad neighborhood, & had a lot of trouble making friends. but he didn't stoop to their level, he was an awesome professional football player who made 10 x money than those low life gang members. that was his past & if he didn't change than he wouldn't of become so successful, fu*ck the haters though, jealously is a diesase ;)

I agree with Angela F. People like to think it can't happen to them, so they like to think Taylor somehow had it coming.
It's no different from the mentality that everyone who gets cancer must have somehow brought it on with their lifestyle. It's human nature to think that there is a plan or reason behind everything, but sometimes shite happens.

I wish my life was that boring and I was that nosey to worry about what anyone else does or who anyone else is. It is no ones business but the Taylor family and the Police. Why is everyone obsessing over such trivial garbage?

Then don't read it.

There's quite a few law abiding citizens that carry and it doesn't make them a thug.
