The most successful ODI captain of India is undoubtedly Sourav Ganguly. Bengal has produced this tiger who has stood firm and determined against all odds. His bold and spirited captaincy earned india many victories and made India the finalists of the 2003 world cup. He has been equally
successful in the tests. He has searched for young talents and brought forth the players like Yuvraj, Dhoni, Zaheer, etc. This man who has done so much for his country was unfortuntely expelled by the foul politics of Chappell and Dravid. By means of his sheer will power he has come back very strongly and today, he has scored a century against Pakistan in the Eden. Don't you think that he possesses an exemplary determination. and is a living source of inspiration to us all?

The most successful ODI captain of the world is Ricky Ponting. The fact that he has made Australia the champions in three conseqeutive World cups proves it.

No Doubt........Sourav Ganguly is best !!!!!!!!!!!

Look at his track record as a captain. When he has arrived to International arena in England Gr8 Gavaskar also commented that his selection was really pathetic...but he has replied with the bang...highest run scorer from both the teams on the juicy tracks, One of the top most performer of ODI's....He is the most aggressive captain of India who has fought with selectors for Yuvraj and Harbhajan Singh, who are performing very well after the initial hiccups...more so Sourav never brings regional politics in selection as some former captain of India has done in the past. He brings the Confidence and Fighting Spirit in the team which was always lacking when they will travel abroad. With his gr88 determination he makes an highly impossible comeback in Indian Team....or I should say most memorable comeback by any international player.

The best ODI captain according to me is Steve Waugh.

Reason:In the 1999 world cup when Australia had to win all the 8 matches to win the world cup he single handedly led the team to the victory. After the win the Australians have never turned back.He set the foundation for the team to be unbeatable both in ODI and Test.A great leader,a great performer.

There are many more reasons but this gains the predominance.

The best ODI captain in my list would be Ricky Ponting(Aus)coz he makes the most of his resources and is not hesitant to include new players in his team like Indian Captains keep on playing the seniors
But if u go for a non australian captain it would be Sourav Ganguly as he is the most successful ODI captain

As far as concerned to India, Sarav Ganguly is the best captain for ODI. In the world, Rickey Ponting always stands the best. Though Dhoni may be successful in 20 twenty, but ODI is more difficult when compared to 20 twenty. Because, the entire game can be changed in the middle overs. Ganguly took very good decisions and brought victory to India with his captency. His leadership qualities, spirit and command over the players made him a successful captain. Azar stands second to him.

As per me, it should be Rahul Dravid. I know even Ganguly had done a great thing in lifting the team morale . The management had not shown the confidence in Dravid because of which he had to step down. Being a technical sound player & a true reader of the game, as called by many great players, he with his non-agressive approach can lead the team much better than Ganguly or any other captain. Even the statistics of his captaincy speaks about his ability to lead the team in any given circumstances.
In last I wouild just say that even though he is not a captain but still he is a great cricketer & i would certainly go by his side.

In my view Saurav is the best ODI captain who has the guts and potential to beat all kind of strategies of his opponents. He led the team from the root and never tried to do anything extraodinary rather he did the miner things extraordinarily.

I like his gesture, his confidence and deadly attitude, which is a must when you are facing a tough opponent in the field. As a batsman he is a master stroke player on the off side. He can penetrate any field setting in the off side. He has no respect for the bowlers when he is in full flow in his batting. He inspired rest of the players all the time. He enjoyed the victory and accepted the defeat. Hence In my word "HE IS D BEST"

Ricky pointing and Steve Waugh. Saurav Ganguly, Kapil dev, Clive Lloyd, Imran khan and Shaun Pollock (for an non-Australian). For me Saurav Ganguly is the best ever Indian captain since he is the first to give more chances to young players like Sehwag, Yuvraj, Kaif and many others. He gave more chances when they are in out of form and groomed them, even the present and the past players have accepted that Ganguly is the best captain. All the effort put by him was spoiled by the great idiotic coach Greg Chappell

Sourav Ganguly Should be Considered as ODI Captain.

Now it is with Dhoni and no issues will be there until he wins. If he is going to lose then everybody will make him feel regretted of choosing the captaincy.

But in case of Sourav his previous experiences in Public Relation will help him. And we can say that he is blended as a captain (He can face worst defeats and big victories).
