Will human beings have to relook at themselves on discovering that we're not alone? Will we have to discard the old science books? Will we have to redefine beauty? Will our minds have to be reformatted to see the universe differently?

I dont think that I would rethink anything really, first I would try to communicate with them and then try to learn from them, Because if they are here then its way obvious that they would be far more advanced than the human race,,

Science predicts there are aliens but they are unlikely to be little green men, so that aspect would be a shock. The impact depends on if they are more advanced than us or not (if we discover them or they discover us) and if they are hostile or if they bring diseases. The field of astrobiolgy would become mainstream.

Lots of people will have to rethink. Lots of people, especially religious fundamentalists, may just deny the facts outright and claim it is all a hoax or that the aliens are angels or demons or whatever. Those people will have the most rethinking to do.

I think it would be great. We need a different way of thinking, bc right now humans are out of control. And I don't think we need to throw anything away, or redefine beauty - beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

We have not discovered any extraterrestrial life yet. We may or may not find it in the future.
