Police! A bit over the top surely? What sort of impression is that giving to children? Especially potential customers, especially when many of this type of shop play loud tinny 'music' themselves.
Personally, I don't think children of that age would be capable of singing for 4 hours solid anyway, although I have to admit, the backing music would have irritated me.

So any volume is OK if it is Christmas carols? Do you know how loud they were? According to the news report you linked to, they had microphones, loud speakers, and background music. This isn't just a small group of kids singing. The complaint was that they were singing too loud, not that they were singing.

It is a mall, people are trying to conduct business. People are trying to shop. You would think that people would have some sympathy for the people who were there and not just a bunch of noisy kids.

We don't have all the information. Would it change your opinion if they were singing rap versions of Christmas carols at an earsplitting volume off-key? I'm not saying that they were, but for all you and I know, they could have been.

What we know is that the people who could hear it found them noisy and offensive and requested that they sing more softly. I think that we should respect the wishes of the people who were actually there.

Well, the miserable chuffs! So some Scrooge complained, and now the kids can't sing Christmas Carols without fear of being stopped by the police? I agree, the world is going topsy-turvy.

This one's for the kids, seeing as they can't do it themselves!

WE THREE KINGS OF ORIENT ARE
ONE IN A TAXI ONE IN A CAR
ONE ON A SCOOTER PAPPING ITS HOOTER
HAVING HIS OWN CIGAR

I know it's not the right words, but I just want to put two fingers up at the numbskulls who did this, and I thought I'd be a bit daft with it! :)

Oh my goodness, dont you think all this PC rubbish has gone to far, children singing to loud? Soon it will be children playing too loud or even children BREATHING too loud. Have some people got such lousy lives that all they can do is look for things to make other peoples lives as sad as theirs. Children should be allowed to be happy and sing all they want and as loud as they want especially at Christmas. there is enough unhappiness in our World why make it so for children.

oh what a joke have people completely forgot the meaning of the festive spirit. The poor children were only singing personally I would think this would create a pleasant festive atmosphere for my customers rather than annoy them. Shame on those who complained

Somehow I find nothing surprising about this story. The Dickens character is not an exaggeration nor is he exceptional, the country really is full of scrooges. Bah humbug! You've got to laugh at just how pathetic some people are.

Oh, and by the way...

Yep-after reading this article, especially since they had the permission of the mall manager-the police did not act in a professional way in my opinion.
Neither did the store owners.

It is the only time of the year when Children are aware of the real meaning for Christmas.Let them sing their little hearts out we need more of it.Much better than hearing the piss heads coming homer at 3am shouting and screaming abuse.

It seems as though they were taking it a bit far...the singing I mean....they were singing between 11am and 3pm....that's far too long....an hour would have been OK...but could you stand it for 4 hours.....but that's me, grumpy old man.
