Unfortunately I save clothing that I might lose enough fat to be able to wear someday. Jars are a problem and I am doing better at throwing them away. I save a lot of stuff that I might need someday. At the age of 70 how likely is that? I was taught by parents who went through the depression.

When I walk the dog I pick up all the rubber bands that the postmen have disgarded. I love roll mop herrings and save all the little cartons for freezing stock when we have lamb, turkey, chicken or anything on the bone. They are an ideal size for gravy for 2.

Believe it or not, I still have some of those books of now worthless blue chip stamps packed away somewhere. Also, a book of tickets from the early days of Disneyland. From the days when you had to have an E ticket or whatever to go on a ride. I know I cannot ever use them again and I don't think any collector on ebay wants them.
I think I have some things I better get rid of before too long. Thanks for the reminder.

Good question, Wally. I save paper clips. Also, pens and
pencils. I always have a few extra bucks in case I need them.
I keep them in each room so I don't have to go all over the house to look for them.
My mom grew up in the Depression. She used to save paper
napkins and paper towels. Also grocery bags.

I don't know if this really qualifies but my Grandma saves plastic silverware...I mean like after a party we are not allowed to throw it away she keeps it and washes it. And if you try to sneek a piece of her fine plasticware in the garbarge u better be prepared to go dumpster diving to retrieve it! I guess it has something to do with growing up during the depression but I find it pretty amusing!

Same as you - plus those heavy duty zippered plastic bags that various linens, cosmetics etc come in.

Grocery bags

valpak coupons - which I never end up using

pieces of stuff I think cute or pretty - like artificial flowers etc. that I later use to decorate gifts.

wrapping paper

like slk, screws and other type hardware that I have no idea what it goes to

stereo wire that goes to who knows what now? [I've had it for years!]

I keep those little square plastic things that come on bread bags. I use them if i need to scrape something hard of the counter, floor, cupboards or appliances. They don't leave scratches and it really saves on the fingernails.

I have a thing about Containers... it's hard for me to throw away a good jar just because it is empty. I pretty much try to recycle everything I can, used dryer sheets are great for cleaning out ash trays. Baskets for odds and ends... And darn it, we have pens from everywhere, so many it's just ridiculous! You would not believe it... half of them don't work when you need one!
