In three nights of rioting "Some 120 police officers have been injured, four of them seriously after being hit by buckshot from hunting weapons. . . By comparison, 200 officers were injured in three weeks of rioting in 2005.

If police are being hit by shotgun fire, which has a very limited range, then they have little skill as a security force.

It would seem to me that folks brandishing longarms would be easily discerned, and thus, avoided/neutralized. Perhaps the Police are showing too much restraint in this instance.

France, Paris in particular, already has strict gun laws.

Washington DC has a total gun ban and there are more deaths by gunfire there than in its two contiguous states, Virginia and Maryland, combined.

There is only one place in the state of Virginia where it is illegal to carry a hand gun. The campus of Virginia Tech, site of the worst gun crime in US history.

I am for the 2nd amendment right for US citizens...I do not believe these rights cover illegals. I do not know what rights the Muslims in France are given. If they are not legal citizens then they should have no right to demand to be treated as one.

The 1st guy is right. Criminals don't care about laws. They need to go in there and fix things. If they need to shoot the rioters to get them to stop them start shooting. By now its obvious that they aren't stopping any other way.
