Abraham Lincoln's definition of democracy has been given the go by and has now been rewritten. You have listed only three items.A
special committee should be appointed to go into this matter in detail and draw up a new
definition of democracy.Even the name should be changed. Why should we accept a word which has a Greek origin? The committee should be told to coin a new word which should give due weightage to all the languages and dialects of India so that no one community
or people of any region can complain of having been overlooked.

True democracy is not there anywhere in the world by which 'people' are truely represented in all decisions & steps taken by govts to solve their problems & justice provided to each & every section of society. In India democrates forget people after winning election & become dictators for five years, never listening to public at all, never visit their own constituencies further. They amass huge money(out of public paid taxes) for their family through corruptions so that their 10 future generations live like kings.
In real democracy, all even the smallest problem of even the weakest section is heard loudly in the houses & quick actions are taken to solve the same .

Compared to what has been happening to most of our neighbouring countries and most of the countries in Asia and Africa, India has been practising a mature democracy . I know you like to criticise our democracy when you compare Parliamentary form of Democracy of UK or Presidential form of Democracy of USA.
Please don't compare our democracy with theirs. We have our own ethos and we have some age old commitments. We are progressing in that direction.
I know, there are lot of vital ingredients lacking in our Democracy. But, that doesn't mean ours is bad.We do need to improve our social evils, like, illiteracy, disease, poverty and the virus called "corrupt politicians'.
These corrupt ones will go into oblivion sooner or later. Please don't lose heart.Indian Democracy has a strong root and it cannot be thrown away by power on the surface of the globe.

God Bless

Unless people are enlightened and elect good leaders, there will be no democracy in our country. Leaders elected by the public reflect the mentality of electors.
