I don't own a car anymore, I either walk or take the bus anywhere I go. As my daughter gets older, however, I may have to forgo this present luxury (no road tax or insurance or petrol or maintenance, not to mention the benefits to my health all the exercise entails) and buy a car in the new year. I'm keeping my eyes open for something small and cheap yet with a good safety record. I'll give the question more serious thought after Christmas.
I hope you get your Range Rover one day! ;-)

I have an 01 Acura TL - the warranty runs out on the transmission next year - and that's a big deal since these transmissions last about 50k miles max. So I'll regrettably have to buy something to replace it, eventhough I like the car. I'm looking at the Mercedes e-class, c-class, Infiniti G35, Lexus ES and GS, and the Nissan Maxima, but I may just cheap-out and buy a top of the line Honda Accord.
