Oh my goodness, YES! Actually, the entire department can't stand her! She lies constantly, steals from employees and the company, doesn't do anything and generally sits around (when she's actually at work) thinking up ways to make everyone else as miserable as she is. She's always the "victim" and brings on the tears all the time. She's "sweet" to the boss and usually in your face, but will stab you in the back as soon as you're out of sight. She has had numerous complaints against her, but for some reason the company is protecting her. I do know that she only got this job because she was threatening a sexual harassment lawsuit. Maybe the company as a whole is afraid of her?
At least she is not my boss. At my last job I was there 16 years and the last seven I had a boss who I despised and who despised me. The situation made me physically and emotionally ill. I had to quit just to save myself.

Yes, currently we have a contractor who is filling in for my teammate on maternity leave.
He's been around a long time and schmoozes management.
For the 3 months I've been working with him he has been rude, abrasive and refuses to produce deliverables (we are working in software QA and he refuses to document his test results). He also doesn't do work that he doesn't feel like, and I've picked up half his projects since we are going into a freeze and recession planning and had hard deadlines.
He did write a small Java program that will keep the developer manager from getting a page about 2 times a year. This won't go in until January and he left all his work due in November go to do it.
So I've been working till 8-10 at night, listening to him tell me I 'm a janitor and he is the CEO because he wrote a program (I have about 10 years dev experience), putting in programs that meet the corporate strategic direction and plan for recession, and don't even get thanks, while the dev manager threw a party for him because of the great job he is doing.

There is a guy in my group within my office that actually told a third party that he hates me. He does not even know me, but he is macho and I am not.
He has a fan in the office that he "shares" with everyone on my side, but when I said that I was too cold, he continued to use the fan. Even when the temperature hit 40 degrees farenheit, he continued to have on the fan.
A coworker asked him about it and finally, yesterday, got him to aim the fan only on himself.
Three weeks ago, I told my manager that I felt it wrong to allow this same employee to "bark" at other employees in the office. I explained to him that it made the workplace unsafe.
The next week, I went on vacation. Someone deleted all of the files on my hard drive while I was gone. I had to recreate my computer. I did not accuse anyone, but this other employee is the only possible culprit.
Hope that makes you feel better.
Take care,
Troy

You are most definitely not alone!
I cannot stand working with my manager. I work for an entertainment and broadcast company where nepotism is rampant. She got this job because she's good friends with the director, but is SO not qualified to be a manager.
She is, plainly, stupid. We listen to her most days talking on the phone with her friends gossiping so loud the whole floor can hear her. She always has that vacant, I-don't-know-what's-going-on look in her eyes.

Yes, Yes, and Yes. You are not alone. Call it what you will but there are people I just don't like or can't stand. And just for today I am not going to beat the crap out of myself because of it. And I would advise you not to think your wrong for what you are thinking or feeling.
Maybe someday I will turn this around, or maybe God in my heart will turn this around. I mean really, are we suppose to like say the terrorists who blew up the World Trade Center.
Ok maybe we are not talking about terrorists but still, maybe there is a reason we don't like these other people. At any rate I am not perfect, however in God's eyes I am. A very hard concept for me to believe, but in my heart of hearts I believe I am ok with God and that is all I really care about.

If i did i think it would be a well deserved punch.....

I can't stand my former employer. He was so kind at first then turned on me like a mad dog. He acted so ugly behind my back when I told him we had to move due to my husbands job. He went so far as to call possible employers in my city and ask them not to hire me. I know this to be true because the possible employer told me. I wish them both ill will and hope it comes back to them double for doing a good worker so wrong. My children are suffering because of this "good old Boys" connection and wrong doing.

Oh yes! Just do your work you have to do and don't let them affect your work. Take you breaks away from them and be the better person, don't react negatively towards them. But if it does affect you let your boss know and let your boss know you are trying to make the best of it so when issues come up you don't get blamed

Most of us hate the jerks we are surrounded with at work and you are not alone. The trick is to learn how to deal and handle the creeps and not let it get to you or impact you after punching out. Good luck!
