I've wondered that myself. Especially when they could do so anonymously. Just lately this question came up.

I think people don't want to get vicitmized for being the whistle-blower.
If the situation was big enough, they could even get bumped off.

I asked someone I considered a thinker, for the small town I live in anyway.

He firmly believes in, "What goes around comes around, and the "it will come back on them 10 fold thing, or times 3, or whatever thing."

There is still a very resistant part of me that doesn't always believe life all handles itself.

I keep thinking it takes more time that way, and there is more destruction that way.

My other friend says, Every time you don't stand up for what you know is right, you're just making it harder on someone else.

Here is my best example: In my town, a church gets paid 3 dollars for everyone who eats a meal there. The money supports the church.

The church admitted they have people working for there believes in government.

Just recently we got a new law saying we can't live together on housing any more without both parties reporting that they are there.
Which will make the rent go up and cause much greater homelessness for many people!

Was it worth the 3 dollar meal? Especially if they don't like you, they might not give you a good one anyway.

If evil deeds in the exist 10% in the society, then, one or two persons can stand and others can support them. But, when evil becomes 50% in the society, then, one or two can stand against that, because, others afroid to support them.
At present, in the world, evil deeds are 80%, think, who will stand in this stage of evil. Only GOD can send some messenger to face and make other to follow him.
GOD knows when that happens.

Ask the Indian Law. Do they allow you? Police can come to interrogate, they can ask you the victim is not your relative then why are you standing here. If the guy is too poor, uneducated can be victimised. To escape all this turmoil people escape and stays off.

The biggest fool of current generation in India is the one who takes a victim to hospital. Law will grab you not the culprit.

Change the Law.

Our life is a bundle of compromises, generally, we tends to guard our family and friends and in this process we compromise with the situation or circumstances. This tendency puts us on defensive and we let the evil pass of with some compensation. But there are people who stand up against evil and pay the price for it. Martin Luther king and Mahatma Gandhi both got bullets because they rose against social evil and freedom. This is history, I can give you two examples from current times. One IOCL sales manager fought against corruption in petroleum products and got the bullet. I fought against corruption in govt.bureaucracy and went right up to the Prim Minister of India but never compromised on my stand and fought the evil and achieved what I wanted to achieve.

So dear there are people who stand up but yet majority of us turn our back and take a comfortable rout of "compromise".

Let me ask you a question, did you stand up against any such evil?

The same reason they don't stand up to bullies. It is a natural human reaction to say, better them than me. As long as they can still live their 'normal' life they can turn the other cheek and still sleep at night.

there are many reasons
1.they lack courage
2.they dont want to take any risk,it is quiet obvious since there is always a possibility that people who are causing evil might hurt them or their families i think the main reason is this one

No matter how hard you try you cant stop all the evil around you. Sometimes theres nothing you can do, other times you have to think about yourself before others.
