i have been with my husband for 9 yrs. and his family still drives me nuts, but they drive my husband nuts too, they are really annoying, most of them are nice, like you said, just incredibly annoying. i'm starting to learn to tolerate it, but they are still as annoying as ever. just be nice, grin and bear it, spend a little time with them, but not so much that your pulling your hair out, remember they love you guys, and just try and keep the peace, hopefully they will grow on you a bit. until that day, or the day when you win the lottery and can afford to move to a secluded island, just be patient, and pray pray pray.

It's almost worse BECAUSE they are so nice.. I would just try your best to ignore the things that they do.. Especially if it's minor/petty....

I LOVE my in-laws but, they too do really annoying things that tick me off.. Once in awhile I will have my husband address an issue that bothers us. As a whole it's NOT that big a deal... Choose your battles wisely.. Also, just chalk it up to everyone is different and leave it at that !

What specifically is it that they do that you find annoying? Is it just them, or does it bother you when anybody does it? Maybe if you know what it is that bothers you, you can figure out if you want to ignore (accept) it or change how you feel about the behavior. It's not likely your inlaws are going to change. What's important is that you remember that they are now family, too. You'd probably be more forgiving of a blood relation, right? Try to see them in that light.

Honestly, I doubt you ever will. As long as you all get along that is what is most important. You can't change people in order to get them to do things the way you want to. You can maybe start trying to overlook some of the things that bother you and not let it get to you. That's the only thing I know to do.

Try to not spend a lot of time with them. Maybe over time, you will start to accept them for who they are and your feelings towards them will soften.

Why do you want to get past that feeling?
We are all different and if all you do is conform to everyone else then you will lose your own uniqueness.
