Both, and have done both of the things mentioned..........
Many times I answer right off the top of my head.........
Then think, did it sound right, or check and see how old the asker says they are. Try to do the right thing,.......like anyone else I'll step-in-it once in a while...............lol.......eeew doooo!!

I have deleted answers when I go back and find lots of answers much like mine.

Ive deleted part of an answer when i read it back and realised it could be interpreted as offensive.

yes I do that frequently , however it's not really worth the deletion of points to remove the answer so I just leave it .

Yeah I've deleted an answer yesterday.
It was a poem I made,
I was scared someone else might try and use it.
So I'm keeping it to myself.
