Read, not just things that you might agree with but things to which you might be totally against. Example: If you're a Republican, read Bill Clinton's biography. If you're a Democrat read Bill O'Riley's books. If you're a Christian read a book about Atheists. If you're an Atheist read a book about Christians. Just because you're learning about something else doesn't mean you're going to change into them.

Also listen. Listen to others and their ideas and theories. Learn from each other and each others experiences.

You can find everywhere things that improve our intelligence... Your life improves it... But there are different kinds of intelligence, so... it depends! =)
