"The Best Christmas Pageant Ever" is a FUNNY, family-friendly story about one church's boring Christmas pageant getting taken over by a wild pack of siblings who have never heard the Christmas story before. No one at the church ever finds the pageant very inspiring; it's just something they do every year. Educating the Herdmans about the true meaning of Christmas makes everyone see it in a new light.
Your kids are probably about just the right age to love this book. It's been a family tradition in my house forever. It's probably funniest if you have a mainline Protestant background, but really its good for everyone.

My teacher read these books to us. They're really good!
Jofum's Journey (I don't the know if that's how you spell it. That's what it sound sounds like, though.
I have no idea how to spell the second name for the second book in the series, but it's the longer version of the name Bart.
Tabitha's Travels
There all by the same author. That's the order they're in. It's historical fiction, I guess. It has the bible people in it, including baby Jesus. It tells the same same story from the first book in this series but from different point of views. Sadly, I don't know the name of the author. I really want to read it again!

A Christmas Carol by Dickens-It will really change your kids' outlook of life.
Little women by Louisa May Alcott might also help. It's not about x-Mas but it starts with this event in one year and ends with the same event the next year showing the changes that have taken place in the meantime.

Dr Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas.
It teaches kids that Christmas isn't just about the presents, or having a list full of things you want- its about spending it with the people you care about etc. It also shows that you can't take something like that away, because it's apart of everyone.
