6x² - 17x + 20 = 0
x = [17 ± √(289 - 480) ] / 12
x = [17±√(- 191)]/12
x = [17 ± 13.8 i ] / 12
x = 1.42 ± 1.15 i (2 dec. places)

-6x² + 17x -20 = 0

first let's multiply thru by -1 and then we will solve with the quadratic formula

6x² - 17x + 20 = 0

ax² + bx + c = 0
x = (-b ± √(b² - 4ac))/2a

x = (17 ± √(289 - 480))/12

x = (17 ± √(-191))/12

191 is a prime number and cannot be factored
although √(-1) = i and we can move that out of the radical

x = (17 ± i√(191))/12
.
