Changed the way you think about things? For me it was "Don Juan DeMarco"-It's about realizing what's important in your life. Numbers two and three would be "Pay it Forward" and "Crash"-Crash is about prejudice and how it affects everyone.

I agree, Crash really had an affect on me after I watched it. I also love Pay It Forward! You have good taste. But the ending was so sad...it definitely made me want to start doing things for others haha.

I also like "Life is Beautiful". It's about a family that has to go into a concentration camp, and about the love of a father and son. It's so touching.

I haven't seen Don Juan DeMarco but since you have good taste I might rent it!!!

Crash was very moving as far as showing us how people act towards others.....Made me think "why are people still so prejudice after all these years?"

Schindler's List was a strong movie.....I went and visited Dachau the concentration camp in Germany----It made me sick inside and to realize the suffering of so many people......

Everyone listed some good movies, I liked "Pay it Forward"
"Helter Skelter" is another one that makes you go wow---

I did love "to Kill a Mockingbird" but it was as strong as some of the other movies were for me........

Good Question.....

I, too will say "A Beautiful Mind". My middle son suffered from schizophrenia from the age of 17 to 44. It was heartbreaking to see and hear him talking to people that I couldn't see during his hallucinations. I realized some of what he was going through with the scenes between Russell Crowe's character John Nash and his imaginary friends. This movie is one of the most powerful movies I have ever seen and the acting by all is excellent..

Schindlers List is an example of how a person can change when given all of the information. It also is one of many things that led me to Atheism.
A Beautiful Mind and The Aviator helped me to understand mental illness.

I was affected by Fiddler on th Roof. It showed how people going about their daily lives trying to eke out a living ,but were persecuted because of their religion and had to leave their home to escape. Of course the music was an added bonus. This is my favourite movie.
We sometimes don't appreciate living in a country that offers freedom to live our lives with our own beliefs.

I am an avid reader and come from a family who were also readers.

Films are fiction (most of them) from the mind or minds of the writers and directors.

Books are thoughts and ideas, philosophy and history. Books are the way to go if you are looking for the "whys" and "wherefores"...not Hollywood entertainment.

I had to watch "To Kill a Mockingbird" for a class in high school, when I was just 14 years old. I identified completely with "Scout" and the emotions she went through during the course of the movie....It was the most defining moment for me to understand just how much racial prejudice can harm individuals, and was the cornerstone of my involvement in the Civil Rights Movement.
