I feel sad that the condition is often overlooked by the medical industry with regards to causes being genetic. I am overweight, but not obese. It definitely "runs" in my family tree and none of us have the same eating habits or enjoy the same food groups.

I was raised by a large woman, and that did not matter to me. I loved my mother very much and it hurt me to see the hurt on her face when people and kids would stare. She had a heart of gold and would have done anything to help anyone if she could. It is sad that the world we live in can not get past the outer shell of a person and get to know the real person on the inside. And yes I am a plus size woman. I love my self, I love my life and if some one can not get past my size then I do not need them in my life. Yes I am married and have been to the same man for over 20 years. I was plus size when we married and probably will be the rest of my life. Thank God there are men out there still that looks for what is on the inside of a woman instead of only what the outside looks like.

the same as i do everyone else, some people have been obese all their life and they justhave slow metabolism and try to lose the weight and they just cant i feel sorry for because it isnt their fault they are obese. but the people that are constantly stuffing their face with everything they can get their hands on and are super lazy then complain about being overweight piss me off. its their fault and i have no sympathy for them when they are constantly at mcdonalds loading up on 99cent cheeseburgers and everything else, if they reallywanted to lose weight and if it upset them as much as they say it does they would do something about it instead of sitting on their *** eating more. sorry if i offended anyone but its the truth

I am ashamed to say that I am not fond of a lot of obese people. And the reason is just that. They are obese. I AM smart enough to know that many of them have a physical problem and that many may have tried to lose weight. I mostly object to the ones who wear it as a badge and dare you to say anything (like I would!). I am kind of funny looking in an average way so I can respect looking different. It is a HUGE (no pun intended) health issue especially in the US. My biggest problem is that so many don't seem to want to try to "get better". There. Now I have made myself look like a real meanie but that's how I feel.

I feel bad for them...they would love to be fit and trim but because they have an addiction (food) same as a drunk or addict they cannot leave food alone...your question should ask how do we feel about people that make fun of obese people...I bet you would get a bigger response

to be honest, i feel a bit sorry for them cos of things like they can't fit into a chair properly or they are more likely to get health problems at a younger age, and other such problems associated with being obese.

I just see them as people, I don't make any judgement of them, why should I. I have a friend who is obese, and as far as I'm concerned shes just Liz who I have known for years and who as always been that size.

Well, obese birds are my ONLY exception. Did the Bon Bons take precedence of the Jazzercise?

I don't have any special feelings for obese people - or thin people or people with brown hair or people with blue eyes or people with noses for that matter.

It depends.
If they're obese because of laziness than I feel they could use some self control and don't have a right to complain about small theatre and airplane seats.
If it's medical I feel sympathy for their medical condition.
