I had direct deposit from my old job and they keep depositing my salary into my bank account. I know they can ask for it back but do I have to give it back and how would it work out with taxes?

Did you maybe have a lot of leave that was built up? If so they could be paying you for the leave until it has ran out. If not give them a call and let them know, but your taxes are probably still coming out like they were before.

Yeah, you need to call them and don't spend the money! It could be that you have backed up leave time they are still paying you for. But if not, then there is some bozo in their office that still has you on the payroll. Just call them and see what the deal is.

Call them and handle this immediately. Of course they can ask for it back, and they WILL, as soon as you inform them of their error. They will have no problem reversing what they have done in terms of salary and taxes withheld. Your W-2 should arrive accurately at year's end.

Tell them to stop. Why accept the hassle? The money isn't yours, you have no claim to it. As for taxes, the income would be offset by the return of the money, so you wouldn't owe them. Make sure your W-2 doesn't show the money as income and you'll be OK.

Just be honest. It works for me.

You really should notify the business department of your old job and get this stopped. It could be a real mess later on
