Hermaphroditus also exist; besides male and female.
What if all three were one. Then there would be not be either any creation or death but only evolution.
Evolution without death and creation is like going in a straight line; onwards and onwards only; and to nowhere.
We always feel the need of getting somewhere; but where; never mind; for we simply want to and have to get somewhere.
The best place to get to somewhere; is to get back to our homes.
I think the reason for the dual pattern is the inherent want, need and desire of ourselves only to get back to home; to stop continuing living our respective life's tryingly and endlessly without break; to have such a break which can give to us a new lease of life; and to be a part and parcel of the subject, object, knowledge and science of creation.
GOD is nothing more than a subject, object and knowledge of the science of creation; which many have known, understood, realised and practised in the past. They knew that they were the objects of the subject and knowledge, of that science of creation which they themselves chose to know, learn and practise.
That is why they called them selves as sons of god or as spiritual masters; and mentioned about going back to our respective homes; that of god.

u forget there are three side of a coin , the third side is upright, as uprightness is not acceptable most ignore it .
India is disappointed with both the sides and now the third gender, or third sex or middlesex is active in election and promising to give ethical governanace.
There is approcrycal and cynical story. in short
When Bhagwan Ram was proceeding on Vanwaas , the auyodhya people followed for a long distance . At saryu river bank The Lord addressed --men and women folks pl return to ur homes , which was duly complied. After some distance the lord looked back , some people were still following , The Lord asked -why are u still following us. The followers replied respectfully O lord u said men and women go back we are neither of them. It is approcrycaly said the Lord blessed them and said in kalyug u will salvage Bharat.
hope it comes true

i blame manichaeism for all this and i also find it pretty limited.
god may have created the perfect being (after his own image) as a... hermaphrodite; removing the female parts left adam as a man and eve appeared as the first woman.
everybody who knows something more about all the creationism views of ALL religion knows there is 'the oneness principle' that's primordial. the dualistic or poly-...listic embellishment was added later on.
there could just be - not be exclusively good or evil nor being in the constant conflict between two opposite sides.

There are more species that reproduce in other manners than that are just male and female. Most single cell organisms divide to create 2 organisms. There are also "higher" life forms that have both male and female organs and/or can switch to the opposite sex as needed.

The Vaisnava scriptures explain something other major world religions do not, something intelligent people question, but limited brains cannot definately answer: Why male and female?
CC Ädi 4.55: "The loving affairs of ÅrÄ« Sri RÄdhÄ and KrÌ£sÌ£nÌ£a are transcendental manifestations of the Lord's internal pleasure-giving potency. Although RÄdhÄ and KrÌ£sÌ£nÌ£a are One in Their identity, They separated Themselves eternally. Now these two transcendental identities have again united, in the form of ÅrÄ« KrÌ£sÌ£nÌ£a Caitanya. I bow down to Him, who has manifested Himself with the sentiment and complexion of ÅrÄ«matÄ« RÄdhÄrÄṇī although He is KrÌ£sÌ£nÌ£a Himself."
CC Ädi 4.56: RÄdhÄ and KrÌ£sÌ£nÌ£a are one and the same, but They have assumed two bodies. Thus They enjoy each other, tasting the mellows of love.
CC Ädi 4.57: Now, to enjoy rasa, They have appeared in one body as Lord Caitanya MahÄprabhu.
CC Ädi 4.83: "The transcendental goddess ÅrÄ«matÄ« RÄdhÄrÄṇī is the direct counterpart of Lord ÅrÄ« KrÌ£sÌ£nÌ£a. She is the central figure for all the goddesses of fortune. She possesses all the attractiveness to attract the all-attractive Personality of Godhead. She is the primeval internal potency of the Lord."
CC Ädi 4.86: "KrÌ£sÌ£nÌ£a-mayÄ«" means that She is identical with Lord KrÌ£sÌ£nÌ£a, for She embodies the mellows of love. The energy of Lord KrÌ£sÌ£nÌ£a is identical with Him.
CC Ädi 4.89: Therefore RÄdhÄ is parama-devatÄ, the supreme goddess, and She is worshipable for everyone. She is the protectress of all, and She is the mother of the entire universe.
In the Srimad Bhagavatam Canto 11:
krishna-varnam tvishakrishnam
sangopangastra-parshadam
yajnaih sankirtana-prayair
yajanti hi su-medhasah
"In the age of Kali, intelligent persons perform congregational chanting to worship the incarnation of Godhead, Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, who constantly sings the name of Krishna. Although His complexion is not blackish, He is Krishna Himself. He is accompanied by His associates, servants, weapons, and confidential companions."

"God " created man in his image. Therefore, it is logical that there is a male and female God, as in everything else. Its an equal balance of things.
