Let me assume that the question is "What is profit for a corporation to an individual either working for the company or owning stock".
To an employee. A company can not survive without profits over a long term. Profits allow the companies to buy equipment, increase sales, expand. Sometimes allow bonuses to be paid to employees.
To a stockholder, profits are income to stockholders. If the company would close, that money goes to the owners. It makes the value of the stocks that you hold worth more.

The profit for what action? Buying and selling stocks? Working for a particular company? Owning their own business? I think you need to add a little more information.

it is excess of income earned over expenses.
so suppose u buy a thing for say 12000 Rs. ur expense is Rs 12000.Now if u sell it without paying any extra money for anything related to that thing.the money u got for selling is say Rs 20000.than 20000-12000=8000. so ur profit is 8000.
