its gotta be a personal choice this one. just dont make the mistake of picking a very popular name. anything in the top 50 and your kid will have to called jessica .a or jessica. b in school to distinguish between all the same names.
on the other hand, too obscure or "individual" spelling of a name and the poor kid will be spellingout his/her name for the rest of its life.
look through baby name books with your partner and write down any that you warm to. next , try using the name wioth your surname. you will find some will be eliminated solely on this. next , try out mean nicknmames your kid could be called at school in regards to his/her name, and further eliminate accordingly. if all fails, and you still dont know, wait until the baby is born and youll find it will gravitate towards a name to the face and personality. good luck

It depends on many things - ethnicity, surname etc. As a white man I would not call my son Nkwano, but it would be fine for someone!

I only have a girl, and I called her Emily. If I had a son I don't know what I would call him, maybe after my late father or grandfather.

I would make sure boys names are masculine and girls names are feminine and don't try names which are excessively modern (especially boys names)

Remember when choosing odd names, the child has to live with that choice forever.

If you're having twins, I like names that go together, or at least have matching initials. Like Jill Ann and Jack Adam, for instance. Or Katie and Kevin, Emily and Ethan, Nicole and Nicholas, Michael and Michelle, something like that. They should go together, or at least sound good together.
My favorite girl's names are Emily, Holly, Heather, Chloe, and Nicole, among others.
My favorite boy's names are Kenneth (my dad's and son's name), Daniel, Aaron, William Joseph, Jared, Noah, and Michael. I could go on and on, there are lots I like. Those are just some top picks.
Please stay away from cutesy, or super trendy names. Your kids will be defined by their names their whole lives, give them one they don't have to be embarassed about! Ignore the so-called experts who recommend giving kids the name they will be called instead of the formal form. Imagine how hard it would be for a person to attain a position of power or responsibility with a name like Kitten or Billy-Bob!
Family names are fine, but avoid them if they are hideous! Some that kids wouldn't be crazy about might include Bertha, Hortence, Horace, Beulah, Herman, etc. Surprisingly, we've seen a revival of old-fashioned names like Madeline and Margaret, names I would have never considered for my own kids.
My best advice is name your kids what you like, as long as it's not ugly or embarassing. Biblical names are always good picks. After all, they've been around for thousands of years! Good luck!

its going to be different for everyone. What I think is perfect, might not fit you. How about naming the baby after someone in your family who has passed away. Thats a good way to remember the person as well.
