new rivals, they have been rivals forever even when it was a battle for last and 2nd to last.

It will be a battle I know the Tribe will be good and I think Detroit added some power plus they both have good farm clubs to pick guys from so I think it will be another good year for both teams.

I think it will come down to those two and hopefully the Indians win it and I would love to see the Tigers take the wildcard so we have 2 teams from the AL Central.

Unless something unusual happens at the Winter Meetings, I see the Indians and Tigers going down to the wire once again in 2008. I think whichever teams' pitching comes through and who remains healthy will determine who wins the AL Central. The Chisox have helped themselves but still have too many question marks for it to be a 3 team race. If the Yankees don't improve their pitching staff, whoever finishes the Central in 2nd could get the wild card.

I think that it will probably be a 3 way race in the AL Central this year. The Indians, Tigers and White Sox all should have good seasons. I think that the Tribe will likely come out on top here because of their superior pitching.

From the looks of things, it should be between Detroit and Cleveland again and Cleveland will win the division again with Detroit chasing either Boston or New York for the Wild Card spot.

Carl Pohlad's deep pockets won't be reached by his short fingers so Minnesota doesn't stand much more of a chance than to fight it out with the White Sox for fourth in the division. Notice I said fourth not third. Those two will see who can self-destruct the best in the division. Between the Minnesota cheapskate and the idiot GM in Chicago, it should be a real fight to the finish.

As usual the Royals will be the whipping boy of the Central division.

Detroit may make the division race even more interesting this year, depending on if Cleveland is for real or suffers the sophomore jinx. Not much going on for either of them in free agency either.

Not currently. The Tigers have bullpen issues. Big bullpen issues. They might go after Rogers again, but last year was not a great year for him, and age is catching up to him. Maggs can't have that year again, but is still solid.
Cleveland is the top of the division without a doubt. But Chicago - with 2 more moves (not Rowand!!) - will overtake the Tigers for that contention spot.

Those will be great games to watch too. The Indians did really well and are a strong team, but they are not the Detroit Tigers. The White Sox are a good battle too. I just wish it was opening day!

Good to see you back to normal, GP. I think they will battle it out again. I think the Tigers have learned from the last two years and will be better in the stretch. Tigers take the division!

Yes I believe they will again, they have almost the same ball teams because of their dominate pitching and low powered offense. They both have offenses that get them on base, and simply they don't hit a lot of homeruns. Both teams average in 2007 was over .290 last year which is simply amazing.

I'm guessing the Tigers come out on top and win the Division while the Indians win the wild card.

I see it being Indians pretty much the whole way with maybe a few bumps in the road here and there. No dramatic battle for first place in September though.
