I do that anyway, but I'm lucky that there is a bus stop close to home (cheap, reliable & fairly frequent - every 12 mins during day & 30 late at night), work is less than 10 minutes away, and there are 6 pubs within 25 minutes walk

No. Maybe if they made public transport more reliable, and cheaper I would but I refuse to wait in the cold and rain for half an hour to have some grumpy bus driver snap at me...

Cars for the majority of the time leave when you want to leave and get you straight from A-B without having a 10 minute walk either side

I don't have a car, I've always used public transport or walking to get me everywhere. It's not as bad as everyone makes out, you know!

I'm 33 & never passed my driving test so I've always walked everywhere or used public transport. I have 2 kids & even with them it's never been a hassle for me to walk or use public transport. I actually quite like it this way too, lol.

I used to walk everywhere, and still walk to a lot of places now...although I could never completely give my car up because public transport is so unreliable!

I think I am lucky, as I have the best of both worlds. I gave up my car when I retired, as my husband was still working and he had his car. Which we use to go long distances and to tow our caravan.
I bought myself a foldaway bike that is electric motorised, and pedal powered, and it gets me from A to B, I can go to all my computer classes and library etc without having to rely on anyone having to give me a lift or anything.
I can also take it away on holiday with me as it folds down into the boot of the car, and my husband puts his in the caravan, and we enjoy the lanes and places which would be awkward to get to in a car, and visiting the forest holiday sites where we can enjoy the scenery. But I think my husband and myself would be heartbroken if we had to give up our car completely, as we are in our sixties, and at times it is our life line.

I walk or use public transport to get everywhere, I've never found it a problem, I actually quite enjoy it, you get to do loads of people watching and you get time to yourself like to read a book or listen to your music. How sad am I X

i have had to...and not by choice, since August of this year.
My car broke down irreparably and i have no cash for a new one. My daughter goes to school about 20 miles away so i have to take a 25 minute walk to the train station early in the morning, take a 15 minute train journey, walk her 20 minutes walk the other end to her school...and then do the same to come home. In the afternoon i have to do the same trip all over again...and thats without anything else i need to do...;0)

Depends on how far I had to go. Obviously if I could walk I would, otherwise I would have to use public transportation.
