Djeene (pronounced Jeen but with a harsher and more stressed J because of the D) and that particular spelling. I'm not pregnant or anything, just curious for opinions.

Confusing...everyone would try to pronounce the D and it would always be spelled wrong because when said aloud, it does not seem to have the D. I would go with Jeene or Jean and pronounce it normally. It is always hard on a kid when they have an odd or hard-to-say or spell name.

I think people may not know how to pronounce it and the child would always have to spell their name out for people.

I think that the kid would have a hard time and get tired of people asking how to pronounce their name. When naming a child you have to think ahead. No parent wants to have their kid picked on because of the name they gave them.

Think about the child...I grew up with an uncommon (foreign) name and absolutely hated it, so I would discourage you from saddling your child with that name. Find a happy medium. I've given my kids "normal", but not overly common names with nice meanings and that work in both English and my native language.

I imagine that if you did have a child and called it Djeene, she would be forever explaining to people how to pronounce and spell it :-)

I think it sounds French. If it was to be an American name, I wouldn't like it. French would be fine. I wouldn't want to make the child's name difficult as the child goes through school with that name.
