It would be refreshing for the US to focus on Americans for a change. I wish we could provide health care to our people like we do in Iraq for their people.

Well America has interest(s around the world. It might be long ago and many Americans may have forgotten but Isolationism has been tried and failed before. Don't get me wrong the Bush way is definitely not the way to go but switching one extreme for the opposite will also not bring a solution. The US can be friends and user its influence for good around the world. That can be beneficial to America and the world, doesn't have to be a one way street.
To answer your follow up question, Republicans only want to help big money and spreading freedom and Democracy was just the convenient excuse they used this time.

It depends on which country you are from and wether the Republicans are the ruling party. One is because they have limited resources, so they would want to maximise their results with the resources that they have.

And I personally think it is not a problem of ideology or political inclination, politics are false and is merely an engine to serve the interest of the top people in a political party - 'bread crumbs' will be left to citizens 'fighting' among themselves.

If your country is stable, peaceful, just and everything seem so NORMAL - who needs political parties?!...its only a race to the top, and if problems persisted or the ruling party failed to achieve its targets - other parties will come over and take a bite at you. So thats when they will help their country.

Republicans usually have money and forget that other people in our country are not as fortunate. In other words greedy. But America is Capitalism. Also Helping others in other countries creates ties which last. As they say never burn your bridges. Social programs and capitalistic spending should be balanced. Spending 2 trillion on war and vetoing bills for 2 billion for educational purposes is crazy. I am a liberal but I also understand the harmony that geopolitics holds on us. We cannot save everyone and we should always put more into ourselves than other people. Work on yourself first and help others when you are able too.
As I remember wasn't our country in a surplus during the Clinton administration? And now in a deficit (2 trillion). I remember eing taught a trillion didn't exist, surprise.

Take a deep breath. Regain your composure. Stop hyperventilating.

Now go find your 1040 tax booklet from last year. Toward the back (p60) you'll find a "pie chart". Now look at the minuscule (that means tiny or small or little) amount of the Federal budget allocated for foreign aid. Its hidden in the "slice" labeled "National defense, veteran and foreign affairs." Of the 23%, approximately 1% is allocated for "... international activities, including military and economic assistance to foreign countries and the maintenance of U.S. embassies abroad." WOW! What a staggering amount of money being funneled abroad.

Now look at the ''slices" for "Social programs" and "Physical, human, and economic development." Add them together and you have allocated 31% of the Federal budget.

You call for "solutions" yet you do not understand that there are no solutions, only trade-offs. If you desire more of "A" then you must be satisfied with less of "B".

There. Are. No. Solutions. Only. Trade-offs.

I always wondered that. Although, I never pinned it on Republicans. I just thought, "hey, before we start rebuilding other countries, how bout we help ours?" I mean, there are so many people in the streets and in foster care programs, some of which are corrupt. There is also corruption in our government and I think that plays a big role in not helping Americans.
We should try to kick terrorists off our own streets before we head on over to other countries, don't you think? Common criminals, rapists, child molesters, killers... let's raise the bar for America's standards instead of jumping on over it and heading to a different country.

Thinking about this makes me sad :(

It's the democrats who want to flood our welfare rolls with over 20 million illegals, it's the democrats who wants to give our social security to illegals, it's democrats who want to increase our taxes and destroy our economy. It's democrats who are trying to socialize everything in their path, its the democrats who are trying to grow the government to control your every move, it's the democrats who want to take away not only your 1st amendment rights with the ridiculous "fairness doctrine" and the 2nd amendment with massive gun control. So you are saying, while the republicans are helping people who really do need help, our country is under siege by the democrats.

I'm a Republican and I don't wanna "help" other people. I don't wanna waste money on social policies in our country either.
