No, it's not too early. My family has always put our tree up the weekend after Thanksgiving. But just to let you know.. that 12 days thing applies to the start of Christmas, not the 12 days before Christmas. Christmas Day is day 1, then you go from there.

Well it depends on the area you are located in. I think 2 to three weeks is the standard but the weather really has an effect on how long your real Christmas tree will last. If you live in a warm area the earlier the better because you don't want you tree drying out on the lot. Cloder areas you can wait a little longer just make sure your tree has plenty of water because the heat in your house can dry out a tree pretty fast. So i say two to three weeks before the fat man comes is ok.

The time of erecting a Christmas tree is purely personal preference. When I was a child, our Christmas tree did NOT go up until December 24, and remained in place until mid-January. Other people choose to put up their tree around the Thanksgiving holiday, and then take it down within a few days past the Christmas holiday.

Do whatever makes you happy. As adults, my wife and I put up our tree about now, and keep it up until at least mid-January. (One of the bennies of an artificial tree.)

I'm doing mine tomorrow (29th Nov) as it is the only chance i have to do it. I think you can do it whenever you have the time - within reason. I think all the answers of just after Thanksgiving sound good. We don't have Thanksgiving in Australia but most here do their tree on the 1st but I know their are lots of lights already up and the shops have had the trees and decorations for ages now.

We usually put our tree up after Thanksgiving which we consider the start of the season. I use an artificial tree. When we use to put up a real tree it was 2 weeks before Christmas.
That way you didn't have to worry about it drying out too fast.

I usually do it about 2 weeks before christmas. I have a toddler and cats, if I do it any earlier it will look really bad by christmas. Do it whenever you want. I think it's nice not to be sick of it by christmas though. If I had it up for a whole month I'd be tired of looking it at, not to mention watering it, and vacuuming up the needles, and putting ornaments back on that my cats knock off.
