As a rule, no. But most tattoo places and the OB docs wouldn't want to risk it because getting a tattoo always carries a certain amount of infection risk, and you can always have an allergic reaction to the inks used. Even if you have already had one tattoo done without problems is no indication that there won't be trouble with an new one. The infection itself could likely be managed, but would require antibiotics, and obviously- they prefer not to have to give those during pregnancy if they can avoid it. The allergic reaction could cause problems, depending on how bad the reaction was. So it's really not something anyone would advise doing. Better to just wait until the new arrival appears, and then have it done.

I was told by a professional tattooist & body piercer that It is recomended not to get tattooed or pierced during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Your body considers Tattoos & piercings as a 'wound', and uses all its energy healing them, when it should be used for your growing baby.
