You mean the first day of a new cycle? Yes, you should be just fine. Relax.
But if you mean the first day of taking birth control ever... I'm not sure. You should ask your doctor.

You can have sex whenever you want to but if you mean will I get pregnant then the answer is quite probably. i was told you need to take the contraceptive pill for at least a fortnight so use another form of contraception too for that time. If you really want to be sure i would wait for your first withdrawal bleed and then you will be fine from then on as long as you remember to take it. It sounds to me as if it is too late from the symptoms you describe. I would say you may be pregnant. You could go and get a kit from the pharmacy and if you are pregnant you and your partner have some serious talking to do. Good luck in whatever you decide to do.

I was told to use a backup method for the first seven days of starting birth control...this gives the hormones time to build up in the body, thus preventing pregnancy.....
So, it's possible that you could be pregnant, but it could also be a side effect of the pills. When I started taking them I had the munchies from nowhere!

If this was the FIRST EVER pack of pills you have taken, it would've been advisable to use extra contraception for the first two weeks or month until your body adjusts to the mediaction.
If I were you, I'd take a preganancy test for peace of mind.
I found this out the hard way when a medical advice line told me not to worry about when to take the first pill-until I took a test 8weeks later and fuond out I was pregnant!
Don't be worried, be sure...

If you have been taking the pill for over a week then you are safe.
Try to keep taking the pill at the same time each day but if you are sick (ie throw up) then you had better wait a week beofre unprotected sex just to be sure.

When I took the pill years ago, I was told that it would become effective immediately if I took it on the first day of my cycle. Otherwise, it takes a month. Try reading the leaflet that comes in the packet, it should tell you on there.

you could be pregnant, its always possible.
The pill should be taken for a full 4 week cycle before proving effective so condoms or other protection should also be used in this time frame to avoid pregnancy.
best of luck and wait till you miss a period to start worrying, there isn't much you can do right now so stop stressing and wait.
